The Action Center

So the first week of school is over (even though it was only 2 days). It wasn't too bad, it didn't even feel like I ever took a three month vacation. Most of my classes are cool, I have peoples that I know in most of them (except for AP Calc, which is full of preps). So this year looks like it's going to get along pretty good I guess.

I had to get a graphing calculator for my AP Calc class. So after some research, it looked like the TI 84 Plus Silver was the way to go because you can upload tons of awesome games to it. So we took a trip to the local Office Depot to pick one up. Brought it home (all excited that soon I will be able to play Pong in math class), installed the software, hooked it up, and spent a couple hours trying to get the games onto the calculator. I still haven't gotten a single program to transfer onto it properly and then run. But I'll figure it out. Eventually. I hope.

So recently I've been playing a bunch of Advance Wars Duel Strike. It's really fun and addictive. A fantastic deal, seeing as it only cost me $2.49 (see last post). Also, I've sorta been playing Super Metroid, but not that much. School gets back into full swing tomorrow, so I better get all that homework that they gave me done.

Let Me Tell You How I Got A DS Game for Only $2.49

Let me tell you about this awesome deal that I got yesterday. My mom and I drove down to the local Shopko to buy some school supplies since I go back to school tomorrow. So after looking around the school stuff, I tell my mom that I'm heading off to the video game section and that she could meet me there in about 10 minutes. So off I go.

I peruse through the games (which Shopko always overprices). I find some interesting stuff; they had this Wiimote charger which I have been considering buying and some other games. Then I continue on to the DS section. As I look through all the games, one of them catches my eye. Advance Wars Duel Strike.

Now, normally I wouldn't have even looked at the game. I have played the Gameboy version, and it was fun but I really didn't get into it. What caught my eye was the price of the game. The price tag said $2.49. That's right. Now normally you would never find anything that cheap in a Shopko. NEVER. So I realized that it must have been a mistake, but just in case, I took it off the shelf to hold. It was the last one, so I had to grab it so no one else took it. When my mom came back, I asked her if she thought the price was real. She suggested I go scan it at one of those scan-for-price things at the end of the aisles. So I find one, scan the game, and it tell me that indeed it costs $2.49.

So I'm thinking that who ever put this on the shelves accidentally forgot the extra 9 at the end. It should have been $24.99, but since the 9 was left off, it was only $2.49. A mistake that would save me over 20 bucks. So of course I took it; if I really enjoyed the game, then I scored, if I didn't like it, I sell it to EBGames for some cash. Win-win situation. So we check out, and end up paying only $2.49 for this game.

The game and the receipt.

The checkout lady didn't even question that she was selling this game for such a low price. She just scanned it and let us go. No price check or anything. So here I am with a game that I got for next to nothing. It was like legally stealing this game, that's how little it cost. And best of all, it's a really good game. I've been playing it non-stop since I got it, and am addicted to it. The only thing better than getting a cheap game is getting a cheap game that rocks.

So yeah, that's my little story of how I got a great game for only $2.49. I doubt any other stores made this mistake, so I wouldn't waste my time rushing to Shopko to see if they did. I just got really freaking lucky. I'm going to go play it some more and try to enjoy my last day of summer vacation.

Nevermind That You Fool

This is just a quick post to show that I am still alive and the blog is still going. My dad got his credit card bill, and I forgot that I had renewed this domain, so he was surprised to see the $6 mystery charge. Also, Apple charged me for a song that I downloaded with a "free song" code, but it looks like they won't reimburse me. Not too surprising, not the first time Apple has screwed someone over. It's only a dollar and I'm not going to freak out about it. So I paid my dad back the $7.

School is starting pretty soon. A little too soon if you ask me. I still have to get some homework "done" and need to organize stuff. Mostly I just don't want to go back to school. I enjoy sitting around, doing nothing, playing my Wii. This summer has been so great; South Africa trip, Harry Potter 7, Reel Big Fish concert. So much fun stuff, don't want it to end.

So Super Metroid is coming out onto the VC tomorrow morning. Of course I will download it, it's a classic game. I can't wait, I've has a bit of a game drought lately. Gives me something to do before school starts. Maybe I'll write something out before the end of summer. Or maybe I won't write anything for a week. Who knows.

Ugh

Yeah, so the Reel Big Fish concert last night was off the chain. I wrote a review on it for some people, don't know what they're going to do with it, so I won't go into much detail here. It's too bad that Reel Big Fish played before Less Than Jake when it should have been the other way round. I did do a lot of skanking and even crowd-surfed once, which was fun until I kicked some chick in the face. The tour shirt I wanted was a little overpriced so I didn't get it. But I did get this other shirt, which has an interesting story behind it.

So there where these shirts that they were selling, one that said Reel Big Fish and the other said I Heart Ska. I wanted both, but decided to go with the Reel Big Fish logo one. But when I got it, I saw that it said Reel Big Fish on the back and I Heart Ska on the front. So it was like getting a free shirt, a two-in-one. I was pretty happy about that, but everyone else thought I was stupid. So screw them whatever.

Yeah, so it was good times. Reel Big Fish was amazing, Streetlight was so-so, Against All Authority didn't play the song I wanted them to but were still awesome, and Less Than Jake started off good but ended up really boring. I was so tired after that night that it hurt to walk. I'm still trying to recover from it.

I better get back to sleep.

Take It Away

So another week of summer goes by, and still nothing interesting has happened. I did go down to the school to get my schedule for the upcoming year changed. I had a zero hour, but I didn't want to go to school an hour earlier every day. So I got that changed so now my schedule is more normal. I saw some peoples there, but no one has really changed. They all look the same as they used to. Another exciting year of school. Woopee.

I've still got to start that summer homework that the teachers assigned me this year. I finished reading To Kill a Mockingbird, but I still have to read Collapse. And don't get me started on that chemistry nonsense that I still have to do. This sucks.

Well, I ordered the new Mega64 dvd, and it should be coming in soon. I've been sending Pownce invites to tons of people like crazy, so if you want one, then be sure to drop me an email. Only one week until the most awesome concert ever.
