Angry Face

Yeah, so Brawl finally came. Can you believe it? I freaking had this game preordered on since December 18th of last year. Two thousand freaking seven. You would think that preordering something means that as soon as it becomes available, you would get it straight away. But no, not with Amazon. They ship it to me a week later, and another week later it is finally delivered. It spend 4 nights in Maryland. Freaking Maryland!! What the hell was it doing in Maryland for that long? Going to nightclubs? Checking out the local library? No, but I can bet you it was probably just sitting on a shelf. The good thing is is that I finally have it and can play it. Which is too bad because I've been pretty damn busy lately.

So this weekend I've finally been able to play some Brawl. I'm about 40% into the Subspace. The cutscenes blow me away, those graphics are gorgeous. But the gameplay can be somewhat easy/boring. All you really have to do to kill 90% of the enemies is to use a c-stick smash (yes, I use a Wavebird) and you can quickly whiz through a level. I wish I could say something about the online, but I haven't been able to play a single online match (except once with Cameron) since I've gotten the game. Hopefully Nintendo irons out some of these online issues, and soon.

Lulz Killer

Update on the Youtube Video Thing
So, I was offered to go on the news because my school asked me to delete a Youtube video. I got an email a week ago from KPTM, one of Omaha's local news stations who wanted me to give an interview. Apparently they found out about it by reading this blog.

I ended up turning them down, because after discussing it with some friends and family, I thought that it could backfire and decided to just let it blow over. It wasn't that big of a deal anyways. So yeah, I could have had my five minutes of fame. Maybe next time.

Other News
I finally got to play some Smash Bros. Brawl yesterday. I've had it ordered on Amazon since last year, but they still found a way to delay it and ship it two weeks later. So I should be getting it within a week, which really sucks because I had preordered it and should have gotten it straight away. Of course, I complained to their customer service, who said they would reimburse me $5, but that doesn't put Brawl in my Wii any faster.

The good thing is that it's a pretty good game. Cameron brought it over and we played for about 6 hours. We had a bunch of stuff unlocked, but a bunch of stuff still yet to be unlocked. So far, Snake, Pit, and Marth are my favorite characters. Snake is awesome, no explanation needed. Pit can fly, so that's pretty sweet. And I loved Roy back in Melee, and Marth is exactly the same, so he's a good one to use. Online was pretty cool, but it's really hard to find people to play. At times I would have to wait a long time beating up the punching bag waiting for someone, and then no one shows up. And then when I did get in a game, the lag was really bad, but then it got a lot better and I had some fun with that. Hopefully the kinks will be worked out when I get my copy.

My parents are happy because all my teachers have only good things to say now days, no more complaining about how stupid I am. So that makes me a lot less stressed, so things these days have been pretty chill. I beat the first Phoenix Wright game for DS, and am getting some progress made in the second one. It's nice to be able to relax...

My School Asked Me To Delete a Youtube Video

Ok, so I go to Omaha North High school. Today, during my study hall, Michael comes down and gives me a pass to go to the office. "What's this about?" I ask. "I don't know," is his reply, "but they want you, me and Whit down there now." So I grab my stuff and walk down to the office, wondering why they want to talk to me. What have I done bad recently? Couldn't think of anything, so I continued to puzzle as I made my way there. As I walk in, I see my principal and an administrator sitting there looking serious. They start asking me about a certain video.

See, last year I made a video with Whit and Steven called "Space Jam 2: 5 Star Advance". It was just a loose retelling of a scene in the play Antigone. It was not fantastic, but fun to make. As with all the videos that me and Whit make, I made a behind the scenes video which is usually better than the first video. This one was called "Reason for Suspension" which was just us walking around the school, filming and just basically screwing around. We got the name from when we decided that being suspended for fighting with lightsabers in the hall was funny. Anyways, sure it contained some questionable content, like attacking a police car for instance, but it was all in good fun. I put it up on Youtube in May of 2007. A long time ago.

So this was the last thing that I was expecting to be called down to the office for. The principal told me that they didn't like it, and they thought that it put the school in a bad light or something like that. They told me that it was one of the first results you get when you type in "Omaha North High" into the search bar on Youtube and they didn't want people to get the wrong idea. Here's some of the things they didn't like -
  • The attacking of the police car - It wasn't real, but was edited to make it look real. My dad told me that one day I would get into trouble for it, and in the end he was right. It didn't help that this is the very first thing you see in the video.
  • Poking butts - Steven poked a lot of people in the butt with a lightsaber, and they didn't like that.
  • "All My Friends Are Dead" by Turbonegro - I like the song and put it as background music. They didn't like that either, but I don't see why that's such a bad thing.
  • Kids wearing North letterman jackets - They apparently appear somewhere in the video, and they thought that that makes North seem bad or something.
  • No parental approval - Some of the people that appear in the background (who's faces you can barely, if ever, see haven't signed off to allow me to put them online.
As they read this off, they were super serious, but I couldn't help laughing so I had to keep looking down. I also like how they though it was called "How to Get Suspended", so they didn't like that name either. I'm surprised that they didn't mention Whit flicking the camera off, or even almost damaging a camera. I also noticed that they had a bio of me printed, with a photo and everything, with tons of handwritten notes all over it. I should have asked to read that, would have been funny. So they asked me to delete it. I went to the nearest computer, loaded up my favorite proxy, and deleted it. It takes a while for it to get off Youtube's database, but it should be gone by now. I want to say that they didn't make me delete it, I voluntarily did it. But what if I didn't?

What could they have done? Suspended me? I uploaded the video outside of school, and they have no control over what I do outside of school. So I shouldn't have had to delete it. But I did. I just didn't want to have to deal with it. They would have called my parents or something like that. I simply didn't want to deal with it. It was only a video, with under 600 views. No big loss. So, yes, I deleted it.

So you won't be seeing the video on Youtube. But maybe I will find some other way of putting it online. The school is probably monitoring my Youtube account, maybe even this blog. But they won't make me delete this post, they have zero control over it, so this won't be deleted. But I made the movie a long time ago, and it's still making me laugh because of the situation it's put me in. And I didn't get into any trouble, so it's no big deal. But if people really want to watch this video, I might figure something out, if you know what I mean...

So my R4 card came in on Thursday. I'm really happy with the store that I bought it from, great communication and fast shipping. Lots of fun to be had with an R4.

On a completely unrelated note, I've started playing Phoenix Wright (the first one for the DS). There's not much gameplay, but the story and the characters keep me entertained. I'm really enjoying it, I can't wait to play the others in the series. Also, I've picked up Jam Sessions. It's pretty fun, I can play the chorus of Blind Melon's "No Rain" and the riff for "Smoke on the Water". Sure, I suck at it, so what? I like it.

The new Myspace layout hasn't been worked on for a while, but I did some stuff to it today. I totally threw out a feature because it just wasn't working and I didn't feel like working it out. I also added a new part which looks pretty awesome. Just one part left (the hard part) and it'll be done and I'll officially launch it.
